Mister Cee "The Finisher" Final Farewell

The funeral of Mister Cee formerly of New York’s Hot97 FM, WBLS, Sirius Satellite's "Rock the Bells Radio" and 104.7FM The Block took place Tuesday evening and was attended by a packed crowd at the Live Nation’s newly renovated Paramount Theater in Brooklyn, New York.

Calvin Lebrun also known to the public as Mister Cee was pronounced dead on April 10th 2024. Mister Cee’s death was declared due to diabetes-related coronary artery/kidney disease as stated by his immediate family in People Magazine.


Mister Cee also known as the finisher was better known as the DJ who introduced the world to The Notorious B.I.G. and also the main DJ for rap legend Big Daddy Kane. Mister Cee was also known as the throwback DJ on New York’s WBLS 107.5FM and a staple on the #1 Hip Hop Station Hot 97. Although Mister Cee pioneered many artists into the hip hop community he was also known for breaking reggae and soca artist into the commercial market.  His most recent residency was on Sirius Satellite radio as the feature DJ on the Rock the Bells station.


In days prior to his funeral his family and friends held vigils in his childhood neighborhood of Bed-Stuy Brooklyn outside of the Lafayette Houses where Mister Cee grew up and started his DJ career.


At his funeral record executives, artists, colleagues, and friends paid tribute to a life ended shortly by the DJ known as the FINISHER! Mister Cee most recently took up residency on Sirius Satellite radio “Rock the Bells” and also on Audacy’s, The Block Radio 94.7FM in New York City playing his usual anthems of hip hop and classic rap music. Attendee like Busta Rhymes was in tears as he described how Mister Cee played a pivotal role in his career and influenced him to be a stand-up individual. Earlier in the evening his partner and childhood friend Big Daddy Kane paid tribute to the late DJ.

Former colleague and friend Rodney DJ Ness referred to him as "My favorite grump to speak to on a Monday unless the Jets losses".

The funeral service was followed by a private memorial gathering with close friends and family of the late DJ prior to his final private funeral scheduled for Wednesday May 1st 2024.
