Some might argue that the Swifties made the ultimate impact on this year’s Super Bowl others might say it was the Usher Half time show. Ultimately the Kansa City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers put on a show for the most watched Super Bowl of all time. According to CBS Super Bowl 58 was the most watched Super Bowl of all time. The game that is focused on American football garnered approximately 123.4 million viewers across CBS, Univision, Nickelodeon, Paramount+, and the NFL app, with 120.0 million of that coming via the main feed on CBS. This was record breaking numbers.
Again, some may attribute this to the game becoming more popular amongst American but by far football became popular amongst women. According to frontofficesports.com the data is Women ages 18–24 watching the game on CBS and Univision posted a 24% jump in year-over-year Super Bowl viewership, while girls ages 12–17 posted a 11% jump, and women overall logged a 9% increase to 58.8 million. This may have been due to the newly Swiftie affect. Pop icon Taylor Swift began dating tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs Travis Kelce in the early start of the season and has drew crowds at every Kansa City Chiefs game. The “Swifties” as her fan base is referred to has shown up in massive crowds to get a glimpse of the multi award winning Grammy Winner. The duo have not disappointed and the NFL production team has not by giving the viewers multiple camera shots of the pop star as she cheered on her new beau.
But was it the Swiftie affect or was it the other Grammy winning superstar that took the stage at half time that helped the record-breaking numbers? Usher who recently finished his residency in Las Vegas gave a star studded ATown (Atlanta) performance with guests such as Will.I.AM, Jermaine Dupree, H.E.R., Alicia Keys, Ludacris, and Lil John all while roller skating and performing to what seemed to be a live performance. The MIC was ON!
Usher under the guidance of JayZ as a half time producer was a show stopper.
Although it was not the most watched half time show. That is still owned by Jennifer Lopez and Shakira may have also been responsible for the women in the audience.
